By the time you are reading this, I will likely already be in the air returning from Vancouver where I was covering the Canadian Tire National Figure Skating Championships.
Trips like these always bring me back to what skating has brought into my life. I am very lucky!
On the way to Vancouver, I was seated across the aisle from a woman named Becky whose kids skate at the club where I was a coach. (Am I still? They asked. I say I am on sabbatical while I pursue other things 😉 Anyway, we got to talking all about the competition and how we thought things were going to play out. I love those kinds of conversations and an hour and a half few by before we knew it.

Behind our row was a family with two small children. I mentioned with a smile that I thought the two wee ones were positively angelic. Not a peep out of them.
Cue the scream from the toddler.
I tapped my new friend on the shoulder and said: “That’s my fault.”
Will I ever learn to not tempt fate?
