The cool thing about being around skaters and skating AND having a trusty little flip cam is getting the chance to gather some cool stuff to share from some really great skaters. World champion and Olympic bronze medallist Jeffrey Buttle is one of those people.
While I was in Peterborough for Rock the Ice IV, I watched Jeff skate. He is as good if not better than he was as a competitor. Relaxed, confident and artistic; his skating stands up.
As much as Jeff is in demand as a show skater, his choreography work is starting to define him even more. In this season he took on the challenge of creating a short program for two-time World champion Patrick Chan. The inspiration for the program came from a show program Jeff worked on with Patrick at the end of last season.
I asked him about his life as a choreographer.
As good as any skater can be, they are nothing without good choreography. Jeff Buttle offers skaters a great vision of just how good they can be.
