If you know me at all – you know I am a Winter Sport girl. All that has started to change. It started with an Instagram mini-video of 3x World Champion and 2X Olympic Silver medallist Patrick Chan working out on a trampoline.

Hmmmm…if the ultimate winter champion can make the switch to embracing summer then so can I.

I have happily joined the ranks of full-time office-going every day workers at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games. I have to tell you that it is beyond fun, challenging and a thrill to be inside on the planning of a HUGE event rather than coming in at the last minute like I have so many times as an announcer.

In any event – there are people out there who may be wondering how to get involved and both Patrick and I think you should:

Rather than watch competitions on a screen or from the stands, YOU could be a part of the action next summer at the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games!

The TORONTO 2015 Games will be the largest international multi-sport event ever held in Canada, with 41 countries and territories and more than 10,000 athletes and officials participating. More than 20,000 volunteers are needed to help make these Games truly great.

What will you do?

Volunteers will work in all areas of the Games. They’ll prepare the field of play, take tickets, usher spectators to their seats, shuttle athletes and dignitaries to venues and participate in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Where will you be?

Volunteer positions will be available in 16 Ontario municipalities, from Welland to Minden Hills and Hamilton to Oshawa.

What will be provided?

An unforgettable experience, training, a snazzy uniform, meals during shifts, invitations to events and special mementos.

Volunteering at the Games is also a great opportunity to network, meet lifelong friends and try your hand at a new job!

Perks for students

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is offering benefits for college and university students who volunteer. For more information, visit Ontario’s education and training site.

Invitations for interviews have already begun. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — apply now!

It’s going to be great! See you there Toronto!

Pj 🙂
