At the wine launch – the Stojkos with wine maker Peter Jensen

It was a busy skating week for me last week and it started out in the most delightful way: I was invited to the launch of a new Elvis Stojko wine line called QUAD.

The details are as follows:

2010 QUAD Reserve Meritage
The premier release of Elvis Stojko wine is a luxuriant blend of four barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the fabulous 2010 Niagara vintage.

Tasting notes:
After spending 18 months in French oak, this rich Bordeaux blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% , Merlot offers deep blackberry and currants aromas, a full and lush mouth feel and lingering black cherry finish.

This wine will drink well over the next 5 years and is ideally suited for veal chops and grilled sirloin or porterhouse

LIMITED RELEASE!!!
Only 80 cases were produced
Price: $360 dlls per case of 12 bottles

Elvis Stojko QUAD wine

I have to admire how Elvis continues to evolve and explore new avenues. He and wife Gladys are the very best example of team work and living life to the fullest.

This new venture started one night with friends over dinner about 6 months ago and one of the aspects that is of most interest to skating fans like me is that part of the proceeds are going to Skate Canada to support skating in Canada. In fact, the wine had already done enough business that at the launch, Elvis was able to hand over a cheque to Skate Canada for $ 2,500.

The wine was met with rave reviews and my opinion of Elvis and Gladys is at least that.  If you’re a wine fan and/or an Elvis Stojko fan, get your order in now before the 80 cases are all gone. I am not a wine drinker but I might even go for a case for the box if nothing else – the packaging is gorgeous!
